Oprichting van Swappable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium (SBMC)
Honda, KTM, Piaggio Group en Yamaha Motor hebben officieel de overeenkomst ondertekend voor de oprichting van het Swappable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium (SBMC).
Sleutel tot succes?
De leden van het Consortium zijn van mening dat de beschikbaarheid van een algemeen ontwikkeld verwisselbaar batterijsysteem de sleutel is tot de ontwikkeling van laagspannings-elektromobiliteit. Gezamenlijk ontwikkelen betekent ook goedkoper verkopen en juist dat is nodig om de elektrische motorfiets op grotere schaal aan de man te kunnen brengen. Elektrische motorfietsen zijn nu simpelweg nog duur.
Het Swappable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium (SBMC) is toegewijd aan de bevordering van het gebruik van lichte elektrische voertuigen, zoals bromfietsen, scooters, motorfietsen, driewielers en vierwielers in de transportsector en aan een duurzamer levenscyclusbeheer van batterijen in de context van internationaal klimaatbeleid.
Het achterliggende doel van het Consortium is om oplossingen te vinden voor de zorgen die klanten kunnen hebben over de toekomst van elektromobiliteit, zoals het bereik, de laadtijd en infrastructuur, en de kosten. Dit wordt bereikt in overeenstemming met vier hoofddoelen:
- Develop – gemeenschappelijke technische specificaties van de verwisselbare batterijsystemen
- Confirm – gemeenschappelijk gebruik van de batterijsystemen
- Make, and promote – de gemeenschappelijke specificaties van het Consortium als norm binnen Europese en internationale normalisatie-instellingen
- Expand – het gebruik van de gemeenschappelijke specificatie van het consortium uitbreiden naar mondiaal niveau
Samenwerking met overheden
Door nauw samen te werken met geïnteresseerde belanghebbenden en nationale, Europese en internationale normalisatie-instellingen, zullen de stichtende leden van het consortium worden betrokken bij de totstandkoming van internationale technische normen. De beschikbaarheid van laadstations verschilt inderdaad van land tot land en er is nog steeds beperkte informatie voor eindgebruikers. Daarom willen Honda, KTM, Piaggio en Yamaha met dit consortium de besluitvormers betrekken bij de ontwikkeling en implementatie van laadinfrastructuur om de toename van lichte elektrische voertuigen te bevorderen.

De vier stichtende leden moedigen alle geïnteresseerde belanghebbenden aan om zich bij de samenwerking aan te sluiten om de expertise van het Consortium te verrijken om in de toekomst een grote verspreiding van standaard verwisselbare batterijen te garanderen. Partijen die interesse hebben om lid te worden van de SBMC kunnen voor meer informatie contact opnemen met een van de stichtende leden.
